Michael Joseph of Flying Barefoot Ranch has been a longtime supporter of the Special Olympics Airlift, having flown in the first official airlift 39 years ago. He has returned to support multiple events, including the most recent flight to Orlando in a Cessna Citation CJ4. His reflections speak volumes about the impact of the experience.

For Michael, flying athletes isn’t just a volunteer effort — it’s a privilege. He describes the Airlift as one of the most rewarding experiences of his aviation career, filled with joy, connection and purpose.

The athletes he’s flown, he says, are the best passengers he’s ever had. Their excitement, gratitude and spirit leave a lasting impression on everyone involved.

As the 2026 Airlift approaches, Michael is ready to take flight once again — committed to lifting lives and spreading joy through aviation.

Everybody needs a lift every now and then. Become a Dove today and join the mission in 2026.
